DUI Program

Second Chance's First Offender DUI Program is a seventeen week, thirty-hour
program designed for people convicted of California's Driving Under the Influence
law for the first time. The course consists of eight two-hour education sessions
and nine discussions groups of approximately ninety minutes each. Additionally,
participants have three "Personal Interviews"of approximately fifteen minutes with staff.

The course costs three hundred dollars. Participants who can document a household
income at or below $300/month (California's previous General Assistance level) can
have these fees waived. Extended payment options are available for other participants
who meet certain income guidelines. There are morning, evening and weekend classes;
which classes are open for signup at a particular time varies.

Participation in the DUI program is limited to people who violate California's Drinking
Driver law. People who have been arrested but have not yet gone to court may register
if they bring proof of their arrest.
