PC1000 Drug Diversion

Second Chance's PC1000 Drug Diversion Program is a twenty week, thirty-hour program designed
for people convicted for the first time of California's laws against possessing or being under the influence
of illicit drugs. The course consists of eight education sessions and twelve discussions groups of ninety
minutes each. Additionally, participants have monthly half-hour "Personal Interviews" with staff and attend
weekly sessions of the Drug and Alcohol Abstinence Support Groups.

The course costs three hundred two dollars. Participants who can document a household income at or
below $300/month (California's previous General Assistance level) can pay ten dollars down and ten
dollars per month. Participants who meet certain other low income guidelines may pay two-thirds of the
standard fee. Extended payment options are available for those who need them. There are morning,
evening and weekend classes; which classes are open for signup at a particular time varies.

Participation in the PC1000 Drug Diversion program is limited to people who are referred by Courts
or Probation for violation California Drug laws. The Registrar's office is located at the Newark center
(6330 Thornton Avenue). People can drop in without an appointment to register or do other business
Mon, Wed, Thurs 8am-6:45pm; Tues, Fri 8am-3:45pm.
